We Are One

Howdy, it is with utmost regret that i haven't written for quite a while but may it be of assurance to you that Writeous Warda's blog still stands, and just as life has its ebbs and flows, its ins and outs and its highs and lows.

Talk of seasons and my heart gets clouded with grief over the later events that unfolded at the Westgate Mall last Saturday 21st, September. Kenya mourns. Such evil but God reigns forever more. The terrorists might have taken over our building and disrupted our lifestyle, but they never succeed in breaking our spirit. Surprisingly, it brought us more closer and united.

It's Just Hair

Just as it may not be right to judge a book by it's cover, admittedly, society tends to form first impressions of people based on their outward appearance. Cloth line, shoes, cars we drive, nails, make-up, and the prominent of first impressions -hairdo.

With that said, what does your hair say about your personality? We all know that it is what's on the inside that really defines a person. But your appearance, including your hair are a part of total package for anyone looking forward in their career or in life and should be considered as something you'd improve just like your resume.

Priorities -the trend of the day

What are your priorities and how faithful are you to your set targets? Well, we are all made up expectations and achievements to which if you lack this quality of being, then woe to you, woe in regard of the venom you will be spitting towards those who got it good going for them.

Ever wondered why some people are bitter, emotional and seem not to see anything positive or amusing in other people or the environment around them? Frustrations is the proper word, and that my friend, is a product of lack of purpose in one's life. They don't have a life, just a shadow of who might have been. Always comfortable riding duo, seated on the passengers seat and aligning it to suit their comfort. Yes, the kinda type who will fill you in about so and so to tit bits or spend the entire day on social media if not tying to incite people, then busy complaining about everything that crosses their path.

The Big Question

At what age should sex education begin? This is a topic that most parents still shush about. But the truth of the matter is, shying off or being stern and withholding information about sex and sexuality will not keep children safe, it will only keep them ignorant.

Parents will forever want the best for the children but times are changing and there are lots of misinformation learned from peers or found on the internet. Media is a major part of our daily lives and two out of three shows include sexual content to an extent that teens relate to the episodes as normal, and older adolescents tend to mimic the sexual themes from the shows. Teenagers get drawn easily and this is where the ignorance mature.

Quarter-Life Crisis

Just yesterday i was all excited, optimistic being the second half of the year, new month and week in tow. When it hit me how time is flying, the years slipping by, what about age and aspirations? If you are big twenty something or once were, um sure you will relate to this, if not yet, your time is drawing.. tick tock tick toc... the clock's ticking.

I call it reality check, they call it "Quarter-life crisis" it's when you slow down and look over your shoulder and you don't relate with anything surrounding you. Yes, you start to question every little detail, from situations to people's behavior and even your own family and friends. Everything becomes less fun, colorless and stretches to tasteless.

Are You Emotionally Successful?

Recent days, every time i meet with friends my age or older, the topics tend to revolve around frustrations. Whether it's in the office or out and about, lots of people confess to being more stressed, mainly due to poor service, poor management and unprofessional attitudes. Yet, most service providers employ graduates who are highly educated everyday.

Is something missing or are we just subject nostalgia? And if truly something is really amiss, who is to blame? Is it parents, teachers or the government? When you look at the education system today, something is not right. They teach children how to pass exams but take no time equipping them for life, decisions-making and creativity. Who said we all have to go to university to become successful? Take a look around you, funny, most of the successful people didn't even graduate and some went back to school after they achieved their life goals.

Recipe for Success in Our Relationships

The result of the new empowered woman has brought good and enough damages as well. Relationship wise, we are totally stuck if not hurt and both male and female are drifting far away from each other and succumbing to unhealthy relations and perceptions.

Women of today are raised to be strong, proud, opinionated and dominant. Men on the other hand aren't programmed to embrace or prefer an emasculating, dominant woman who is better than them at many endeavors. Frustratingly, majority seem to be biologically if not biblical, attracted to supportive, polished housewife over the challenging, feminist who tirelessly competes on equalizing the man.

The dangling issue: Men and Football

Personally, i once tried being a fan and kept up the pace but got burnt out. Maybe the team i supported, Arsenal, didn't do me much justice or i never understood it at all.

Dangling indeed. Wish i could start with positives but loosing your boyfriend, hubby or even a girlfriend to a football game can be emotionally draining. It's a hobby, yes, but the energy and commitment unleashed can send any woman feeling alienated, frustrated and angry. Some men even go to an extent of choosing their team over their partners. As if that ain't something, we acquire the title football widows!

The Other Woman; Why Settle for Less?

As a little girl, did you say, "when i grow up, i hope to fall in love with another woman's man and aid in the destruction of their marriage?" I highly doubt those were your romantic aspirations.  -Writeous Warda

People date to find companionship, a mate, or someone to share their life with. But does that include dating a married man? A married man has all of the above because he has a wife, then why would a woman still want to date someone who is legally bound to another person? Why run from a relationship of your own and settle for second best when you can eat from your own plate?

Undercover Operation: Bra -(ABC's and DEF's)

Do your boobs sag low? do they wobble to and fro? Chances are they do -eight out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra! Not only can the right bra eliminate sagging, it can make you appear slimmer and take years off your looks. -Oprah

In this article I'm compelled to be your "breast" friend, after reading The Bra Book by Jene' Luciani, and to be honest, after digging deep, it was a shocking revelation just how many of us are ignorant. Major bra mistakes, and bra shopping seems difficult than it has to be! Even the chicest of us have little messy secrets behind closed drawers and it's with great pleasure that i am sharing this with you and hopefully by the end of it all, i will have given you a new way to approach bra shopping and flaunt an updated look.

Others Are Already Taken: Be you!

What makes you a valuable person? Most people don't really engage in this inquiry on a regular basis and if you do, you often think that if you just got more done, made more money, accomplished a goal, had a more meaningful work or whatever, then you'd be happier or feel more valuable. That ain't it!

Being oneself takes courage, commitment and faith. It's a process of letting go of many false beliefs you have picked up from the collective consciousness: that you have to look good, be smart, know the right people, say the right things, have proper experience, in order to be happy and successful in life. Being yourself can be scary, difficult and even off-putting and at times lonely. However, being your authentic self is liberating, exciting and fulfilling. When you have the courage to just be who you are without apology or pretense, so much of the suffering, stress and worry in life simply disappears.

My Social Mode

The other day a friend emailed and was all joys after reading some of my blog posts, urging me on to create more since he liked the flow and wanted to see it go places . Feeling carried away with the remarks and amidst enthusiastic responses, he simply wrote... "What are friends for?''

Obesity or Overweight?

Our current lifestyle has brought about various self-created problems. Some have predicted that today's youth will be the first in over a century with a life expectancy shorter than that of their parents. Overweight and obesity are linked to more deaths worldwide than underweight.

What is the difference? The term Overweight is used to indicate the excess weight while obese refers to excess fat. Being overweight means having more body weight than is considered normal or healthy for one's age or build. On the other hand, Obesity is the condition of being obese, that is, excess amount of body fat. The most useful measure of the "O" word is body mass index (BMI), calculated from your height and weight..

Take Control: Reconfigure Your Value System Today!

It is possible to work and enjoy life at a go.

We all have different priorities and value systems. A well defined value system is a moral code. The way we value different things in our lives. Each thing you like or dislike, and the importance each has to you, merges to form your unique value system.

Our value systems are constantly at work, developing through what we are taught and our experiences, combined with our reactions to them, forming our preferences and our unique perspective on life. To achieve work-life balance, we need to live a life where we work and enjoy life in a way that grows us individually and financially.

Ex Factor: Should you sleep with an ex?

There you are, chilling in on a Saturday night. Flipping through the sports channel watching old replays before settling for a collection from your DVD guy. It would not be so bad except you have an itch, a sexual itch -that is in need of scratching. Currently, you have no real prospects on the horizon since your last break up and navigating solo waters can get trickier and lonely, considering a relationship ending does not mean your libido stops. Desperation ensues and your mind wanders off. The dilemma is that, you start obsessing about your ex (you kept friends) as a booty call.

Ways to feel more attractive

Boost your confidence by being kind and gentle enough, to let your unique inner beauty show..
-Practice being kind. Commit to look at yourself through kind eyes everyday, so you learn how to focus on the positive aspects of your appearance. Size up wisely.

-Learn what works for you. Get to know your body shape first and you will learn what works and what accentuates the parts you don't like.

-Affirm yourself, don't look to others for affirmation. Who you see in the mirror and what you think is all that count. Other people often have a screen over their eyes -of thoughts, worries, doubts, and distractions- so it's best to let your sense of self come from within instead of waiting for external gratification. Affirmation work even when you don't believe them. They create positive tension.

Up Your Self-Esteem.

No matter how you feel about yourself, where you came from or whatever happened in your past, you can still do what needs doing right now. It's okay to feel anxious, depressed, scared, angry or lazy as long as you don't let it stop you from doing what you have to do. 99.9 percent of behavior is controllable and you are morally responsible for every single thing you do.
